Starting from the mindmaps of our team members:
Museum visits can be boring for children. How do we make them fun? How do make them interested in the art that surounds them?
Museums have developped into many different formats. There are museums about pretty much anything these days. But the classics are still alive and well. We find it important to make the newer generation realize the history that came before them but with tools that they connect with.
Nowadays, children have a very small attention span because they are used to rapid videos, flash images and larger than life action movies and video games. This makes them disconnect with reality and the slow pace of normal life. Museums are here to remind us of timelessness and art, and its ability to stand still throughout changing times.
Who is our target? Is there a target age group ?
In our project, we are targeting two age groups of children. Firstly a very young group, from 4 to 12 with a very simple, colourful and easy to follow game. And then an older age group from 12 to 17 that will have a harder, more question oriented game to follow.
A new way of enjoying museums
We have decided to take a fresher look at museum visits. What we offer is a game. Like a treasure hunt. The child will start at a first art piece and will need to answer a question about it. Every question brings a new clue to the child to move on to the next piece. It is impossible to move on in the game without acquiring some knowledge about the art in the museum. Another interesting aspect to the game is that is can be downloaded onto any phone. The phone is then placed into the VR mask and the experience can be enjoyed by anyone !
When you arrive on this page, you have to choose which musuem you want to visit.
Then, you select which adventure you want to do. And let's play !
Now, you can play and answer different questions. When you answer all questions, you win something, like 20% off in the giftshop.
We are thinking of developing the app with other museums, more questions and treasures. And adapt it to adults, so that the whole family can enjoy it. Maybe we could also put integrated purchases in the app, to make it profitable.
